The August 18 Possum Pickin' will feature great Country and Bluegrass music from Elizabeth Bell & The Would Be Thieves, Hickory Wind and The Paul Family. Bring a lawn chair and don't miss this amazing concert. There is no cover charge but, an offering will be taken to help bands with travel expenses. Concessions will be available from The Bronze Star in Tallapoosa and Teresa's funnel cakes and boiled peanuts.

This week we are planning to get there earlier and check out the deserts before they disappear.

Doug Stone will be performing with Sammy Sadler and the Doc Win Band. The event will be Saturday, July 28^th. It begins at 7:30pm. Tickets and VIP Tables are available at the Country Club Restaurant. VIP Tables are $270 per table and sits 10 people and includes priority seating, two bottles of wine, and snacks. There are a limited number of VIP Tables available. Get one while they are still available. General Admission Tickets are $17 for residents and $22 for non-residents. A portion of the proceeds go to Children’s Voice CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). Come out and enjoy a great time and support a local charity.


Not exactly a cheap ticket but the concert supports a great cause in our local area.

Going to the library is a great option for anyone trying to stretch their entertainment budget.   Libraries in our area are members of the PINES Network-

Georgians with a PINES library card have access to materials beyond what is available on their local shelves and enjoy the benefits of a shared collection of 9.6 million books and other materials that can be delivered to their home library free of charge.

There is definitely a lot more than books in the library!  We brought home several DVDs (including a couple blu-rays) and CDs along with a plethora of books. There were even video games available in the Villa Rica library.  I also spent a few minutes researching some ideas for our explorations in several reference books that are available.  There was a selection of books on the topic of local history that I am sure many people would find interesting.

The Country/Contemporary Christian band, Diamond Rio, will be taking the stage tonight at the brand new amphitheater in Carrollton, GA. Diamond Rio has been together since 1984 and has a catalog of songs that mixes Country, Rock, Bluegrass and the trademark sound of  Jimmy Olander's B-Bender custom guitar.  The concert is FREE!

We are looking forward to the first ever Comedy Night at The Mill this Saturday.  Three established comedians will be taking the stage including one that just happens to be the owner of The Punchline Comedy Club in Atlanta.

Jamie Bendall is an attorney and owner of The Punchline.

Dan Mengini is actor and comedian who was born in Bermuda but grew up in the United States. He has many notable television appearances and was inspired to be become an actor/comedian as a fan of Tom Hanks.

Hank Denson will also be there.  We are trying to keep this blog free from swearing but a search on  youtube will give you and idea of Hank's act. I am sure his show this Saturday will be clean with the number of families and children in the audience.

Get there early for a good seat and check out the Gold City Cruisers' monthly car show.
